Pope Francis, the leader of the Catholic Church, has acknowledged that nuns and priests consume online porn.
On Monday, October 26, Pope Francis said that internet porn was a “vice” that churchgoers shared. He was speaking to seminarians in Rome at the time.
The 85-year-old Pope declared, “It is a vice that many people, many laymen, many laywomen, as well as priests and nuns, have.”
The Devil gets in the way like that.
And I’m not simply referring to degenerate criminal pornography like that which involves the abuse of children. However, a little “regular” pornography, he continued.
The Pope then issued a warning to priests and nuns, telling them to “be careful about this.”
Pornography is prohibited for Catholic priests and nuns because it violates item 2354 of the Catechism, which defines sexual imagery as a “offense against chastity.”
In 2020, a lewd picture of a Brazilian bikini model wearing stockings and suspenders appeared to have received a “like” from Pope Francis’ Instagram account.
The confirmed Franciscus account of the pope was one of the thousands of users who liked the image from October 5, according to the model Natalie Garibotto.
Following that, the account “unliked” the picture, just before the Vatican announced it was opening an investigation since the Pope’s social media accounts are handled by a staff.
After the incident gained notoriety on social media, she made the remark, “At least I’m going to paradise.”
