The younger brother of the late Bimbo Ogbonna, who was married to well-known car trader Ikechukwu Ogbonna aka IVD, Oyindamola Martins, has provided facts regarding how his sister set fire to their marital house, ultimately causing her death.
The late Bimbo decided it was time to end her marriage, but she did not want to depart empty-handed, according to OAP, DaddyFreeze’s conversation with Oyindamola. After many years of suffering and mental, physical, and emotional suffocation, this choice was made. Because she had “sacrificed” her life for her husband IVD, Bimbo, he argued, could not just leave him.
Bimbo pleaded with her husband to give her the paperwork for their Lagos property so she could take possession of it, but he refused, according to Oyindamola. Then, according to him, Bimbo made a promise to burn the house down to keep it away from both of them.
He asserted that when IVD was at home, Bimbo threatened to injure herself by dousing herself in kerosene, and that IVD was powerless to intervene. He asserted that Bimbo lit their curtain on fire while still clutching IVD, but he pushed her into the blazing curtain, causing 100-degree burns.
“She said since this is the only house we have, let us burn it so the two of us would leave with nothing.
As she was lighting up the whole house, she poured kerosene on her body and was like let everything just end. When she did it, she stopped for a while and went round the house. He was not saying anything. He was like ‘if you want to die, die.
As the curtain was burning, she now jacked him and was like you will give me these papers today. He pushed her off his body and this got her into the curtain.
She suffered from hundred-degree burns. That takes like about of a couple of minutes to get 100-degree burns. When she was on fire, her husband was right in front of her doing nothing.”
He asserted that Bimbo was the one who left on her own and asked for help getting her to any hospital. He said she was rejected by ten different hospitals before they finally located one where she was admitted.
Oyindamola acknowledged that he was unable to confirm accusations that Bimbo helped IVD perform any sort of ritual action, but speculated that she may have done so out of love for him.
He added that he was unaware of IVD’s HIV status as well.
