Sharon Ifedi, a young and gifted Nollywood star who first found her acting talent in secondary school, has stated that she is not yet ready to date and that no man has formally requested her hand in marriage.
In a recent interview, when asked if she had ever declined a marriage proposal at such a young age, Sharon Ifedi, who had previously expressed interest in becoming a doctor, responded, “No, I have not. And nobody has asked me to marry them.
I don’t know anything about men yet, so I can’t tell you what attributes I’d look for in one till I’m of legal age. My only concern right now is my career. I don’t have a romantic partner. I have no romantic interests. But of course men would always say they like me.”
Speaking on her challenges as a kid actress and funniest experience with a male fan, Sharon Ifedi said: “I used to hate the fact that I had to wake up early, leave my siblings at home, go for work and come back late at night. So, it was really stressful. Now, that’s not really a big challenge anymore because I’m used to it; and I like the person that I’ve become and would still be. However, my challenge now is the roles that I’ve not played, because as an actress you need to be versatile.”
“I’ve experienced a number of embarrassing fan interactions. A guy fan once sprang out of nowhere to give me a bear hug as I was taking shots on the red carpet at an awards ceremony. I didn’t anticipate it. The fact that the person wouldn’t let go and that nearby neighbors had to help remove him astonished me.
The quickly emerging star also provided advice to other young actresses, including herself, on how to market their services. “I would tell them to first look at themselves in a mirror, practice, and see if they can fit in.” And if you gain the confidence, determination, etc., then you can start going for auditions. And if you are really good, a producer will like you and feature you in one of his movies, and from there you can pick up work. Definitely, it won’t be easy, but if it is what you really want, then you can make it. Never give up. If you know what you want to do, just do it.
And my mother really helped me get to where I am today in my career. “My sisters and aunties, too,” Sharon Ifedi said.
