Senator Douye Diri, the governor of Bayelsa State, has responded to the criticism that followed the online appearance of a video showing him dancing and celebrating despite the flooding that was occurring around the state.
After witnessing Diri dance at the 11th annual state thanksgiving at the Ecumenical Centre in Igbogene, Nigerians took to social media to criticize him. The Governor thanked the attendees for attending the ceremony in large numbers despite being effected by the flooding and left homeless. On social media, Nigerians criticized the governor for his callous and inhumane behavior.
However, Diri noted that the Bible only moved him during an interview on Arise Television’s The Morning Show. “Here in Bayelsa, The Governor thanked the attendees for attending the ceremony in large numbers despite being effected by the flooding and left homeless. On social media, Nigerians criticized the governor for his callous and inhumane behavior.
However, Diri noted that the Bible only moved him during an interview on Arise Television’s The Morning Show. “In Bayelsa, we passed a law requiring the state to celebrate Thanksgiving on the second Sunday in November by that date. “And this last year was no different. The bible [which states that we should thank God in all circumstances] encouraged me,” he stated.
